“I was born in a village so I am well versed with the culture, the way they live, their behavior and mannerisms and anything they do. They will not just be carrying home a work of art but also enriching many lives,” states Nagpal. “These spaces are pierced with images inspired by the events of the political movement of students in Kolkata.—Today, 12 pm to 8 pm, at The A Club, Lower Parel.

Eventually, I started using colours,” shares the 77-year-old. I urge all who would want to adorn their walls with art to come forward and support this event. And here we have an art exhibition that puts together 70 works of artists from across the country. Organised by Art for Concern, the proceedings will be donated towards social development activities in the space of education, health, and community development. My main inspiration is nature; nature is a mother. Even if you wanted a bigger space, it was easy to handle it.With a surreal portrayal of mother and child, titled Lullabay, contemporary Indian artist Jiten Hazarika who finds the process of painting as calming as meditation is thrilled to be part of this show. While Das’s pencil work depicting the human form devoid of ornaments will be on display, Subramanyan’s folk art and charcoal artworks of Telangana artist T Vaikuntam’s engaging paintings of rural life will also be showcased.Subramanyan, Padma Bhushan Jatin Das, Padma Shri Paresh Maity, artist T Vaikuntam, illustrator Badri Narayan, Jogen Chowdhury, Badri Narayan, Rabin Mondal, and Jayasri Burman, to name a few.

And through my work I want to represent my village on a bigger canvas,” explains Vaikuntam. Put them together and see how they respond to each other,” smiles Saha.G.” The artist, whose work has seen a gradual shift from atmospheric scenery to representations of the human form, will have sketches of human faces on display.”Humbled by the support they have received from the artist community in the last two decades, Bianca Nagpal, spokesperson, Art for Concern, is delighted to bring together some exemplary portrayals. “My creative process is not just observation from life and nature, it is also a deep philosophical observation from my roots that goes back to my childhood,” he says.

Titled Masters of Today and Tomorrow, the exhibition features Padma Vibhushan K. The aim is to establish a satire through the image of a crane removing Rodin’s ‘Kiss’,” he says.Noted artist Paresh Maity whose broad spectrum of work varies from sculptures, colourful elephants figurines to Bollywood themed trunks, quotes Aristotle when he says, “All art is not but an imitation of nature. “I try to bring in two contradictory elements — nature that is organic and spiritual; and man-made that is the geometric, structural and ephemeral in a single plain.Potrayal of rural woman by T VaikuntamAs someone who started with charcoal painting due to his inability to afford canvas, the artist now prefers acrylic only. The platform also serves as an opportunity for art lovers to appreciate and purchase works by upcoming and well-established Indian artists. It is seldom that we get to see canvases of award-winning artists under one roof.

Through his work, the Baroda-based artist is trying to bring to perspective the relationship between landscapes and advertisement, making his work unique

“A kilogram of RPET can keep 60 water bottles out of landfill,” he adds. While the core product of his start-up company Alcis Sports is Wonder Tee, Baid also plans to create other garments out of this fabric..“The Wonder Tee is made from six to eight plastic waste bottles,” says Baid. Another thing I came across was this very idea of making plastic into yarn and I knew I had to take this up and make a difference,” he says. These T-shirts are also softer and lighter than normal ones.

“Generally, T-shirts are made of polyester — a man-made fibre, production of which involves huge quantities of water, chemicals and use of fossil fuels; moreover, the raw materials and by-products are toxic and pollute water and air, causing several health hazards,” he explains. Polyester is not that good for Indian customers as summers here are very hot. “They did not believe it could weigh below 100 gm.Manufacturing modeThe collected PET bottles are first sterilised, dried and crushed into small chips, which 3D signs Suppliers are heated and passed through a spinneret to form strings of yarn.“We also save 25 litres of water per T-shirt as the dyeing process is different.

The new material has a carbon footprint 50 per cent lower than organic cotton. A new material called Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate, RPET, has left organic cotton, considered to have the lowest carbon footprint, way behind. These T-shirts also have anti-microbial and anti-static finishes. For those looking for one of the most environment-friendly fabrics available these days, an organic cotton brand won’t be the best stop anymore.” While the plans to manufacture other garments are there, he says, “The tee will remain our main focus. It was while travelling in Europe that Baid got inspired to give this project a go.

The yarn is wound up in spools and the fibre produced is then passed through a crimping machine to create a fluffy woolly texture. Most mills use a lot of water for dyeing clothes and when this water is disposed, it ends up polluting water resources like rivers.“Since we were producing it for the first time in India, I faced a lot of quality concerns. "We are already in talks with some fashion designers and hopefully will venture into making designer wear as well, hopefully in 2018. It took some time to reach perfection,” he says.Environmentalist and entrepreneur Roshan Baid has created what he calls a Wonder Tee — this means one essentially wears recycled soda bottles, water bottles and food jars, processed to make the environment-friendly and غير مجاز مي باشدt-effective RPET.”The company is now producing 3,000 to 4,000 T-shirts daily but it was not smooth sailing for him initially.

The processing of this yarn was complex. So I made some T-shirts for my friends and gifted it to them in pencil boxes,” he says.“We started on March 18, 2016.When the idea of Wonder Tees was germinating, some of Baid’s friends did not believe that T-shirts could be so light. We wanted to look at the value of our product. It is then baled, dyed and knitted into polyester fabric. “They use recycled plastic to make things like quilts. But this T-shirt can be worn in any weather,” he adds.”The waste generated in the process of manufacturing the Wonder Tee is also treated and reused

Indeed a notification has been issued asking for an explanation from those responsible for these statements, including from the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He has written this and it was coming on WhatsApp and emails. Here is the full content of the letter: "Dear Shri Ram Nath Kovind Ji,We, the signatories, are Armed Forces Veterans who have served in the defence of our nation in various appointments, in peacetime and in operational and war zones over the past several decades. We, the undersigned, endorse the above. We therefore appeal to you to ensure that the secular and a-political character of our Armed Forces is preserved. You would be aware that those in active service (men and women of all ranks in the Army, Navy and Air Force) cannot speak out, even on matters which might affect their interests adversely, since they are subject to military law and are governed by the parliamentary Acts of their respective Service.New Delhi: Rashtrapati Bhavan sources have denied receiving any letter supposedly written by armed forces veterans to the President requesting his intervention in the increased instances of politicisation of armed forces. However, we Veterans being in continuous touch with our own military fraternity, as also with serving personnel at all levels, have a ‘finger on the pulse’, so to speak.

"This is not Admiral Ramdas’ letter (purported letter written by armed forces veterans to President) and it has been done by some Major Chaudhary.. Their military professionalism on and off the field, combined with the devotion to duty in protecting India’s territorial sovereignty and national integrity, remains widely appreciated. I had given my consent only after knowing the contents of it. India’s Armed Forces have loyally upheld the democratic principle of civil control over the military. However we regret to state that these do not appear to have resulted in any substantive change of behaviour and practice on the ground.

It could therefore directly affect national security and national integrity. The letter was reportedly sent to the President on Thursday, the day 2019 Lok Sabha elections began.Former Army chief General (retired) SF Rodrigues tweeted:Gen SF Rodrigues: Don’t know what it(purported letter written by armed forces veterans to Pres)is all about.Major General Harsha Kakkar said: “Yes, I had given my consent for being a signatory to the letter. I don’t agree with whatever has been written in that letter. We hereby respectfully urge you to take all necessary steps to urgently direct all political parties that they must forthwith desist from using the military, military uniforms or symbols, and any actions by military formations or personnel, for political purposes or to further their political agendas. We believe that you will surely agree that any such misuse of the Armed Forces established under the Constitution of India and under the supreme command of the President of India, would impinge adversely on the morale and fighting efficiency of the serving man or woman in uniform.. This is in Custom Blade Signs addition to media pictures of election platforms and campaigns in which party workers are seen wearing military uniforms; and posters and images with pictures of soldiers and especially of Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, displayed..Yours Faithfully" Keep yourself updated on Lok Sabha Elections 2019 with our round-the-clock coverage -- breaking news, updates, analyses etc all.A letter, allegedly signed by 156 veterans -- among whom are former Army, Air Force and Navy chiefs-- has been circulating on social media, saying: " .""To put an end to it, I wrote that armed forces are apolitical and support the politically elected goverment.Always put India first. There is a controversy now that a letter has been signed by these top officials.Don’t know who these ppl are, classic manifestation of fake news pic.we write to bring to your attention, as the Supreme Commander of Indias Armed Forces, some concerns which have caused considerable alarm and disquiet among both the serving and the retired personnel of our Forces.

The signatories expressed concerns over photos of Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman at election campaigns.". The letter was shared widely in social media.. Happy reading."It referred to "unusual and completely unacceptable practice of political leaders taking credit for military operations like cross-border strikes.

It is for this reason that the President is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and we serve and execute orders at the will of the President and as decided from time to time by the Executive – that is, the Government of the day.We refer, Sir, to the unusual and completely unacceptable practice of political leaders taking credit for military operations like cross-border strikes, and even going so far as to claim the Armed Forces to be “Modi ji ki Sena”. And no, my consent has not been taken for any such letter. We do appreciate that complaints by some senior retired personnel, including a written submission from a former Chief of the Naval Staff to the Chief Election Commissioner, have elicited a prompt response.156 Veterans of the Indian Armed Forces including 8 former Chiefs of Staff write to the President of India urging him to act against Modi for trying to use soldiers for votes. The Election Commission asked the parties not to use the images of armed forces personnel in campaigns. And it is for this reason that we write to bring to your attention, as the Supreme Commander of India’s Armed Forces, some concerns which have caused considerable alarm and disquiet among both the serving and the retired personnel of our Forces..Aftr,42 yrs as officer, its a little late to change.Among the veterans whose signatures are seen at the end of the letter- are three former Army chiefs - General (retired) SF Rodrigues, General (retired) Shankar Roy Chowdhury and General (retired) Deepak Kapoor, four former Navy chiefs and former Air Force chief NC Suri. The soldiers, sailors and airmen of the Armed Forces owe allegiance to the Constitution of India, of which you, as President of the Indian Union, are the legal custodian. This communication is copied to the Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of India for information and action. The apolitical and secular nature of India’s Armed Forces has been an article of faith for every soldier, sailor and airman. With the General Elections round the corner, and given the prevailing environment where political parties and candidates seem to be acting in total disregard of the declaration of the ‘model code of conduct’, we fear that such incidents may only increase as polling day draws near.”Recently, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath referred the armed forces as “Modiji ki Sena”, which triggered a controversy. Opposition and former Army officials said that apolitical entities such as armed forces should not be dragged into politics. Reacting to the letter, Congress tweeted:Modi may try to use soldiers for votes, but its clear that soldiers stand with India and not the BJP. We have been misquoted," Suri added. All my life, weve been apolitical
